Where Language Meets Culture: An Evening at Xoay Space
Some evenings just feel right. No big production - just good people, genuine conversations, and the quiet sense that something worth building is already taking shape. Our gathering at Xoay Space was exactly that.
The Place
Xoay Space is a cultural café and aperitivo bar in Hanoi where coffee, conversation, and art naturally come together. Rooted in the Vietnamese tradition of communal eating and drinking, Xoay sees hospitality as a way to connect people, ideas, and cultures — from a quiet morning coffee to a relaxed evening aperitivo. It is a space for dialogue, between local and international perspectives, between tradition and the present.
For Hanoi Liebe, it was the perfect fit.
The Evening
The room brought together language teachers, German learners at different stages, and people simply curious about culture and exchange. What followed was warm, open, and completely unscripted.
Conversations flowed between German and Vietnamese. Some people were practising the language in a social setting for the first time. Others were reconnecting with something they had been studying quietly on their own. Everyone left with new connections and a reminder that learning a language is, at its heart, about meeting people halfway.
Thank You, Xoay Space
A genuine thank you to Xoay Space for co-hosting this event and for being such a natural partner in what we are trying to do. The space, the atmosphere, and the team made the whole evening feel easy and meaningful. We hope this is the first of many collaborations together.
What Is Coming Next
This was a beginning. In the near future, Hanoi Liebe will be launching German language classes — both online and offline — in small groups of five to twenty people, across multiple levels. The classes will be connected to a community that spans both Hanoi and Germany, with real updates from Germany woven in and a distinct identity that reflects the spirit of this project.
If you are interested in learning German — whether you are just starting out or already somewhere along the way — feel free to send us a message. We would love to hear from you.
We are looking forward to the next event and to seeing familiar and new faces again. In the meantime, follow along with Hanoi Liebe for stories, updates, and everything we are putting together for Hanoi and beyond.
